Do any of you know if a Dell 8600 laptop is supposed to come with sound?
I tried listening to music just now and I can hear anything.
I've got the volume to full.

Last time I checked, all laptops come with sound.
Maybe you disabled the sound device?

How do you check that out PS?

Control Panel > Sounds and Multimedia (or Sound)

Check Advanced and see if your speakers are enabled or disabled.

If that doesnt fix it tell me, it might be a driver problem.

Most Dell Laptops and Desktops have integrated sound. Even if you don't get one of Dell's sound cards, you still have the integrated sound that comes standard. (Unless you DIDN'T ask for one?)

If your sound went out you might have a damaged sound system.
Did your laptop have funny sounds or something that would indicate damage? Anything wrong is usually a sign something is malfunctioning.

Well Miss Swiss didn't come back so I'll assume she got the sound working again.

All computers come with sound.
Sure you might not get a sound card, but they supply integrated sound Miss Swiss
